Brazil is the second largest consumer of coffee in the world, accounts for 40% of the South American market, and 6% of the world’s total coffee consumption. In 2000 Strauss acquired Café Très Coracoes, located in the Minas Gerais province. Café Très Coracoes produces roast and ground coffee and cappuccino products, and after the acquisition, the brand’s activity expanded beyond its home region into northern Brazil and the Sao Paolo region.
About The Partnership
In 2005 Strauss became the second largest coffee company in Brazil through a partnership with Santa Clara, owned by the Lima family. Très Coracoes was merged with Santa Clara and Strauss owns 50% of the merged company, with the Lima family owning the other 50%. The company has an extensive portfolio of roast and ground coffee products, cappuccino, instant coffee, chocolate milk, as well as a company for storing and processing green coffee.
