Taking Responsibility for the Basics

Every year, Strauss Group holds a global SCR Day that incorporates all Group units and businesses. This is the pinnacle of volunteer and community activities taking place all year round across the organization, both in Israel and internationally.

The purpose of this day is to encourage Group employees around the world to become involved and contribute to their respective communities, while exposing them to the benefits of volunteering and giving.

This day is both a declaration of intent, and an actual deed, that enhances the connection between the two. On this day we experience first-handthe communities around us and come to know the places that are in most need of assistance and support. On this day we provide an added value, both emotional and practical, beyond the products we offer to consumers.

CSR Day 2011

The message chosen to spearhead our volunteer work this year, which was proposed by the social leaders at the Group, emanates from our sense of responsibility as an organization to provide basic social response to the needs of communities around us. It manifests recent events in Israel and the world – the evolvement of social-economic protests that echo the high cost of living and the difficulty among many parts of the population to make an honest living.

The activities planned this year were selected in a comprehensive process that tracked social needs in areas close to Strauss’s business locations, and following a dialogue with our community partners and associations. Numerous activities will be conducted in collaboration with regular community partners of our business units, which keep in contact throughout the year. In other units, we will hold various activities that aim to meet basic needs of diverse populations.

Every unit – Group HQ, plants, offices, logistic centers at Strauss Israel, Strauss Water, Strauss Coffee, Sabra and Max Brenner – will devote the work of its employees to several hours of volunteer work this day, financing the costs deriving from it. It should be noted that this cause binds Group Management as well and senior executives have cleared their busy schedules to go out with employees and volunteer in the community.

The fact that we mark this day on a global level highlights the broad and true influence we have as a Group on the lives of people and communities around the world, and the fact that we remain connected to occurrences surrounding us.

The Activities Chosen

This year we chose to volunteer in places that our social partners defined as having the greater need. Employees and managers alike will take part in such activities as packing food baskets and distributing them to the needy, renovating educational institutions, day care centers and kindergartens, as well as enrichment and experiential activities, environmental activities, activities with the elderly, collection of cloths and donating them to the needy, and more.

We hope that this CSR Day will empower both the community and employees, constitute a significant impact in Group contribution to communities around it, boost the morale of community members and employees, and provide a great momentum  to all of these parameters combined.
