Israel

Strauss Israel

Strauss's activity in Israel

Israel is our home base, the cultural wellspring that engendered our values-driven activity and our professional knowledge. The largest food company in Israel was born of a Zionist vision, love of the country and giving.

The company has been active in Israel for over 75 years and employs some 6,500 people countrywide, from Kiryat Shmona in the north to Yotvata and Eilat in the south.

Besides our business activity in Israel, the country is also home to the Group's corporate center and management. At the end of 2012 our activity in Israel accounted for around 49% of the Group's business turnover. We are market leaders in all our core categories and enjoy strong consumer awareness of our corporate brand and high customer loyalty.

In Israel, we manufacture, market and distribute products in the three core categories in which Strauss is active globally – Health & Wellness, Fun & Indulgence and Coffee.

The Company manufactures its products at 20 production sites located all over the country, and operates through distribution sites and offices spread countrywide. Every day, our products are distributed to some 13,000 retail points of sale. We also operate the Elite Coffee café chain, which today has 60 locations.

Our activity in Israel is accompanied by a series of strategic collaborations with global food manufacturers: Groupe Danone holds 20% of Strauss Dairies, and PepsiCo is a 50% partner in our salty snacks business. We are also partners with Kibbutz Yotvata in milk drinks and with Yad Mordechai in honey products, olive oil and confitures. These partnerships are productive and long-lasting, and have enabled us to create a broad, stable professional and business infrastructure.

As a company whose roots are embedded in the history of the State of Israel, our products and brands have a strong connection with the consumer public, accompany Israelis in their everyday lives and are a familiar staple in every home.

In Israel, Elite brands (both in the Turkish coffee and instant coffee category) maintain leading market positions operating both in retail and away –from-home (AFH).

Within our Strauss Coffee Israel operation, we also operate the “Elite Coffee” café chain, which focuses mainly on espresso coffee counters in high traffic locations. Driven by the mature market, Strauss Coffee Israel is always innovating.

Strauss Water

Strauss Water's activity in Israel

Strauss Water Israel markets the company's products in Israel, which is also home to the firm's corporate center. Strauss Water Israel started out at Kibbutz Netiv HaLamed-Heh in 1971 as Tana Industries, then a plant that manufactured metal frames.

In 1978 Tana acquired new water purification technology from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, and thus began the process of developing a home water purification appliance – Tami3. In 1987 Tami4 was launched after it had been registered as a patent in the USA, and quickly became a market leading product.

Since then, Tana continued to develop water purification and filtration products, which were marketed in Israel and internationally under the Tami4 brand name.

In 2009 Strauss Group acquired Tana Industries, and with the inclusion of the H2Q venture, Strauss Water was established.

Strauss Water Israel has changed the Israeli consumer's drinking habits and has become market leader in its field.

The company offers a range of solutions for the home and business sectors under the Tami4 brand, which was chosen as one of the 100 leading brands in Israel in 2012.
