Water
Water is the source of life, our most precious resource. There are some who take it for granted, while others walk for miles to find it. Wherever we live, however we live, water is essential to our existence and to our quality of life, and we must safeguard it for ourselves and for the future of our children.

The quality of the world's water is deteriorating, and only 1% of the water on earth is drinkable. One person out of eight has no access to water that is fit for consumption, and 1.1 billion people have no safe source of drinking water within a range of 1km from their homes.

Water is the natural environment for the Strauss Group, which acts to improve the quality of people's lives, to promote corporate social responsibility and environmental awareness. Because what is more basic than water? And what is more wondrous than to return to millions of the people their basic right to enjoy clean, safe water?

Strauss identified a real opportunity in point of use (POU) water treatment, and we have invested in the development of products and technologies that guarantee our consumers water that is both of good quality and safe to drink, and also provides a functional response to their everyday needs.

New Appointments in Strauss Water:

Appointment of VP Global Strategy, Product Innovation and Marketing; Appointment of CEO for Strauss Water Israel Ronen Zohar, CEO of Strauss Water- the international water company of Strauss Group – today announced the promotion of company employees Dror Morad and Yaniv Shirazi to newpositions. Dror Murad (44), who served as CEO of Strauss Water Israel for the past six years, was promoted to the position of V.P. Products, Marketingand Strategy at Strauss Water global.  In this capacity, Dror will formulate and lead the strategic plan of the company and oversee product development and marketing in all the countries where Strauss Water operates, working with its partners and distributors worldwide.  Dror holds a B.A. and an M.B.A from Ben Gurion University Yaniv Shirazi (43), currently VP Strategy and Business Development at Strauss Water, will be promoted to the position of CEO of Strauss Water Israel.  Yaniv led the strategy and business development activity of the company and managed its international distributors apparatus.  In his new capacity, Yaniv will manage the company’s activity in Israel.  Yaniv holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business in the U.S. and a B.A. in Government and Public Administration from the InterdisciplinaryCenter in Herzeliya. On the occasion of these appointments Ronen Zohar, CEO of Strauss Water, said: “Strauss Water is today promoting two of its finest executives to key positions as an integral part of a process designed to strengthen the company as Israel’s leading water bar company that is also developing in additional countries overseas.  Our partnerships in China and England, and our international distribution apparatus in six other countries, are all based on advanced Israeli technology and unique human capital which, joined together, create real value for millions of consumers worldwide. A new joint venture agreement between Strauss Water and Haier group

Further to the Immediate Report dated 14/1/2015 (Reference No. 2015-01-011371), the Company hereby announces that its subsidiary, Strauss Water Ltd. ("Strauss Water"), signed with companies from the Haier Group a series of share transfer and exchange agreements, and a Joint Venture Agreement, for restructuring the Haier Strauss Water joint venture in China. The restructure will expand the joint venture business, by adding water purification products in technology that to-date was owned byHaier. The new joint venture company, Qingdao HSW Health Water Appliance Co., Ltd. will engage in research, development, installation, sale, maintenance, treatment and water purification, and from now on will also include the reverse osmosistechnology. Pursuant to the Joint Venture Agreement with the Haier Group companies: Haier Group Corporation, Health Water Equipment (HK) Co., Limited. and Haier International Co., Limited, the joint venture will be owned by the companies from the Haier Group 66% and Strauss Water 34%. To complete Strauss Water's share in the joint venture to 34%, Strauss Water will pay Haier approximately NIS 31 million. Under the Joint Venture Agreement, Strauss Water has an option to purchase up to an additional 15% of the shares of the joint venture in 2017 for a consideration determined in accordance with the valuation of the joint venture which will be based on its 2016 financial results, and in any event will not exceed NIS 90 million. In addition, the Joint Venture Agreement governs the relations between the parties and their share in the management of the joint venture, and determines that the Board of Directors of the joint venture will consist of 5 members, with 3 members appointed by Haier and 2 appointed by Strauss Water. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the joint venture will be appointed by Strauss Water and the CEO will be appointed by the Board per the recommendation of Haier. In addition, Strauss Water and the joint venture signed a License Agreement under which Strauss Water has granted an exclusive license to the joint venture to use the Maze technology in China. The HaierGroup will provide distribution, marketing, sales, development and service to the joint venture. Turnover of the joint venture (pro-forma) in 2014 was NIS 210 million, with 67% annual growth rate compared to 2013.

New CEO for Strauss Water Ronen Zohar, former Sabra CEO, appointed CEO of Strauss Water

Gadi Lesin, President and CEO of Strauss Group, this morning announced the appointment of Ronen Zohar as CEO of Strauss Water. Zohar (54), married and father of three, began his career at Strauss 26 years ago, in which he rose through the ranks and successfully held a variety of positions in sales, operations and senior management, the most prominent of them being CEO of Strauss Frito-Lay Salty Snacks (2001-2005), CEO of Strauss Dairies (2005-2007) and CEO of Sabra (2007-2014). Zohar holds a bachelor of science degree in food technology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.As CEO of Sabra, in the past seven years Ronen grew the company more than tenfold (from 45 million dollars to 480 million dollars), entering new product categories in salsa and guacamole, building a new hummus factory in Virginia and doubling its capacity four years later, building a Center of Excellence to develop the core category (hummus) and positioning the company as the Number 1 player, significantly distinct from the competition, as penetration rates of US households grew steadily each year and operations in Canada expanded.Gadi Lesin, President and CEO of Strauss Group, said: "Ronen Zohar brings with him a rare combination of a people-oriented leadership style, extensive experience and strong proven skills in leading companies to impressive business performance, and knowledge in managing international partnerships and businesses in a complex environment. Green Standard Awarded to the Water Bars of Strauss Water

Dror Morad, CEO: "600 million bottles of mineral water have been saved since the company was established" David Leffler, Director General of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and Dan Goldstein, CEO of the Israel Standards Institute, awarded Dror Morad, CEO of Strauss Water Israel a Green Standard for the Tami4 water bars of Strauss Water.The reasons for awarding the Green Standard: • Energy-efficient appliance • Doesn't contains heavy metals, prohibited flame retardants or other dangerous materials. Moreover, the plastic comprising the appliance is unleaded and recyclable after use. • Strauss Water undertook to recycle all appliances for purposes of either reuse or dismantling and recycling through World Recycling. Strauss Water's water bars are the first electric appliance of its kind to receive a Green Standard. The company presented figures which suggest that between 2007-2014 the use of water bars increased from 12% to 28%. It was further suggested at the meeting that every water bar purchased saves the use of 1,000 bottles of mineral water. David Leffler, Director General of the Ministry of Environmental Protection: "We regard Israeli companies as full partners in environmental improvement and  reduction of pollutants in Israel. I am pleased to discover that companies are starting to realize the inherent economic and public value of environmental efficiency, which leads them to initiate and promote quite a few start-ups and technological innovations that improve product quality and reduce its ecological impact. We are currently establishing a research center to manage materials in conjunction with academic institutions. We believe that this research center will help commercial companies as well, both in Israel and internationally, to optimize their production processes in the future. Strauss Water Presents Technology and Product Innovation at the International Water Exhibition Aquatech China 2014

The largest international trade exhibition for process, drinking and waste water treatment opened yesterday, June 25, in Shanghai, China, for the seventh year. This exhibition is a major venue for market leaders in the field of water in Asia in particular, and among the world's leading water companies in general. The exhibition has more than 1,000 booths representing companies from 30 countries around the world. It includes seminars, special lectures and displays on water issues and solutions to challenges in China and Asia regarding lack of quality water that will meet the needs of the large population there. Strauss Water China, the operating arm of Strauss Water in that country participated in this exhibition as a leader in drinking water solutions where water challenges are highly significant. In the exhibition, Strauss Water China presented the technological product advancements of the partnership between Strauss Water and Chinese Haier Group, showcasing the company's innovation in water. The products on display included three new products, a new water purifier and an advanced application expected to be used by consumers over the next few years in the various countries in which Strauss Water operates. The exhibition was attended by Chairperson of Strauss Group, Ofra Strauss and CEO of Strauss Water, Rami Ronen. Group Chairperson, Ofra Strauss, said at the press conference: "The partnership between Strauss and Haier is a symbol of the strengthening partnership between the State of Israel and the People's Republic of China.
