Strauss Group is Launching “The Strauss Institute for the Promotion of a Healthy Lifestyle”
Strauss Group today launched The Strauss Institute for the Promotion of a Healthy Lifestyle. The new institute and its strategy were presented at a scientific conference for nutrition leaders in Israel.
The new institute will continue the activities conducted by Danone Institute in Israel for the past 14 years, while interacting with the global Danone Institute and local Danone Institutes around the world.
The main purpose of the Strauss Institute is to enhance our mission to improve people’s lives by supporting nutritional research with practical applications, holding scientific conferences for nutrition professionals, and launching activities that promote healthier lifestyle in the community.
In keeping with this strategy, the Strauss Institute plans to issue a Call for Research Grants in the coming year and launch innovative and experiential tools that promote a healthy lifestyle.
Activities will be steered by a scientific council of four leading academics and researchers in the field of nutrition:
President of the institute, Prof. Ra’anan Shamir, MD, Chairman, Institute of Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Liver Diseases at the Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel, Prof. Pierre Singer, Chairman of the Division of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University and Chairman of ESPEN (European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism), Prof Oren Tirosh Institute of Biochemistry, Food Science and Nutrition at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Gal Dubnov-Raz MD MSc, Exercise, Nutrition and Lifestyle Clinic at the Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital, Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel, as well as Prof. Eyal Shimoni CTO Strauss-Group and Amalie Messika, who also serves as Strauss Group’s chief nutritionist.
At the conference held today, a workshop entitled Optimal Protein Compositions in the Life Cycle was attended by leading Israeli academics, who delivered lectures on Nutritional impacts on Growth (Dr. Galya Gat-Javlonsky), Optimal Protein Consumption Under Strain (Dr. Gal Dubnov-Raz), and Optimal Protein for Retaining Muscle tissue in the Golden Age (Dr. Shaul Lev).
