The smile will return to the fields

Farmers in the Israeli communities of the Gaza Envelope play a major role in maintaining the food and nutrition security of the citizens of Israel. The crops grown in these communities account for a significant part of Israel’s entire agricultural produce.

As a food and beverage company that is strongly connected to Israeli agriculture, over the years we have built partnerships and profound relationships with the farmers of southern Israel, who have become an inseparable part of our activity and an inseparable part of us. The potatoes picked in the Gaza envelope are delivered to our salty snack production site in Sderot. The crops cultivated by the vegetable growers in the region serve as the main raw material for our range of fresh salads packed on Kibbutz Bror Hayil and for the products of the Achla dips and spreads plant in Karmiel.

Today, more than ever, our hearts and thoughts go out to all the farmers and families who suffered such a tragic, crippling blow in the murderous terrorist attack of October 7th, and we are committed to being a part of the efforts to rebuild their life’s work.

This is why we decided to establish an aid fund of millions of shekels, dedicated to supporting the process of recovery and restoration of the farms damaged by the war. Together with Leket Israel, the national food bank and Israel’s leading food rescue organization, which specializes in the rescue of agricultural produce and has been our long-standing partner for many years, through the fund we will support the people of the Gaza envelope communities, who care for the nutrition of us all.

Through Leket, tens of thousands of tons of agricultural produce are donated each year to populations in need in Israel.

In the immediate term, the fund will provide financial aid to some 800 farmers, to enable them to buy food and beverages for their families.

In the longer term, an aid program will be crafted, in partnership with those who are so strongly deserving of it, with the aim of delivering a response to their various needs, including financial assistance, legal aid, help in purchasing equipment to rebuild the damaged infrastructure, innovation development and the adaptation of products to farming capacities, support for employee placement, as well as other needs that are raised in the field.

Today, more than ever, we are proud to be a food and beverage company, and it is our responsibility to ensure the food and nutrition security of the residents of Israel, which starts with thriving agriculture.

Our mission is for the fields to smile again.
